Yoga/Movement For Kids & Parents

ITSY BITSY YOGA FOR TOTS for mobile babies up to 21 months (Celeste LeMieux) Toddlers are natural yogis! In this class, tots and their loving caregiver explore over 75 developmentally nutritious poses, songs, and activities designed by baby-yoga expert and author Helen Garabedian. Each pose and activity offers parents the tools to help their babies sleep longer, digest easier, and grow stronger! Parents can’t say enough about the supportive community that Itsy Bitsy Yoga class provides, and the new ways they have come to know and love their babies more deeply through the practice of yoga

ITSY BITSY YOGA FOR TYKES 21 months to 4 years - younger siblings welcome (Celeste LeMieux) Stretch, sing, twirl, jump and balance in this active yoga experience for preschoolers designed by Itsy Bitsy Yoga founder Helen Garabedian. Help bring focus and fun to your tyke’s day with playful breathing activities, “beanie-baby balance poses” and special yoga games to build motor skill confidence, body awareness, and self esteem. Younger siblings are welcome as they get to look up tot their older siblings on how to do certain poses. Full parent participation required, but no yoga experience necessary. Mobile siblings attend at a discounted price of $5/class ~ non-mobile siblings free

YOGA FOR CHILDREN ages 3.9-6, 7-11 (Tara Rachel Jones & Nora Dybdal) Children blossom from the inside out. At times, their pace of movement is much faster than their rate of development. Yoga gives them an opportunity to slow down, reconnect to their natural rhythm, and balance their energy. Each class presents a consistent series of postures to explore flexibility, encourage concentration and stimulate inner curiosity

YOUTH YOGA ages 12-15 (Tara Rachel Jones & Nora Dybdal) As the early teen years unfurl, it can be a challenge to balance a deepening sense of autonomy with the growing responsibility and connection that go with maturity – and  all while body and mind are changing almost daily!  What a wonderful thing to find a place for relaxing, for stories and fun with friends, and discovering tools for inner peace. Youth Yoga explores yogic teachings through flowing series of movements, breathing practices, relaxation and meditation

  • Summer classes run for 12 weeks, from Monday, June 16th through Sunday, September 7th, except as noted
  • the Center accepts cash or check payable to TAC or The Arlington Center
  • drop in anytime for $18 (some classes cost less) or give payment for a class card (see below) to the teacher - card will be ready by your next class
  • 5 class cards cost $85, or $17/class
  • 10 class cards cost $160, or $16/class
  • 15 class cards cost $225, or $15/class
  • 5, 10, & 15 class cards are transferrable - family and friends may use them! - and there's no time limit
  • unlimited class cards cost $155/1 month, $450/3 mos, $865/6 mos, $1595/year - more details...
  • sign up for a season anytime (except the last meeting) - cost is prorated when you join mid-cycle!
  • pay $15/class when you sign up for the season (some classes cost less - see registered/drop-in fees next to listing below)
  • it’s flexible - sign up for one class, then attend different classes instead, whenever and as often as you like, until the end of the season!
  • before coming to first class, please check for updated schedule information at www.arlingtoncenter.org
  • plan to arrive 10 minutes early to allow time to check in and set up
  • street parking only - do not use driveways or lots on either side of building - no 2hr restriction on Sunday, and side streets off Mass Ave are never ticketed
  • bikes - use bike racks, signs & trees, not neighbors' railings
  • participation in all classes and workshops should always be done under the guidance of your physician
  • please inform the teacher if you are pregnant or have special needs
  • what to bring: a yoga mat if you can - the Center freely provides them, though, and has plenty of props (blankets, blocks, belts, eye pillows) for optional use
