Taking Risks: What are the biggest risks we've taken?  What risks we feel called to take and why?

Dharma Film Series presents THE WORLD OF APU
Saturday, February 4, 7pm ~ Like his father before him, the young Brahmin dreamer Apu has come to the big city, 1930s Calcutta, to write a novel and make his fortune. By a strange sequence of events, Apu connects with the lovely Aparna, who is tragically betrothed to another. What follows will bring Apu the same kind of momentous challenges and unexpected opportunities for growth that marked the earlier Pather Panchali and Aparajito, culminating in one of the most uplifting embraces in all of cinema. Heartbreaking and utterly absorbing, the film immediately plunges one into a world long past, with scenes of almost magical beauty and simplicity. Though it is the final installment of Bengali filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s award-winning Apu Trilogy, one needn’t have seen the first two parts nor read the Bandopadhyay novels on which they’re based to enjoy and appreciate The World Of Apu, Ray’s wise masterpiece...and Apu’s. $10 at the door, with free refreshments and post-film discussion, $35/3 CEUs for mental health professionals

YOGA Rx: Ease Your Depression and Anxiety* with Liz Owen
Saturday, February 11, 2-5pm ~ Medical science is now scientifically proving that practicing yoga changes brain chemistry by increasing neurotransmitters that fight depression and anxiety. In this workshop participants will practice a sequence of active and restorative yoga postures designed to ease symptoms of depression and anxiety and to create feelings of mental stability and well-being. The sequence is based on NIH-funded research, co-authored by Owen, which studied yoga’s potential to help treat depression and anxiety. You will experience what yoga practitioners have understood and experienced for millennia: that yoga can help us change how we think and how we feel so that we can live happy, healthy, and balanced lives.
$35 or class card x 2 + $5 ~ all levels welcome

THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS 'THE PELVIS'
Learning To Use Your Center with Josh Schreiber

Sunday, February 12, 10:30-1 ~ We like to joke in the Feldenkrais community that there are no quizzes in our studies, because the answer is always 'the pelvis.' (Well, either that or 'it depends....'). In this workshop you will discover what we mean. The Pelvis is the largest and heaviest bone in the body, it is centrally located, supports our most vulnerable organs and is traversed by our largest muscles; our nervous system identifies the pelvis as the center of our selves. Developing awareness of the pelvis leads to centered, graceful movement and is an essential element in the alleviation of any musculoskeletal discomfort. As with so much Feldenkrais work, you are likely to find this centeredness extending beyond the quality of your movement to your mood and state of mind. $28 or class card x 2 at door
